Our Vineyards in Avize
Yvonne Seier Christensen
Sloping vineyards are so much a feature of Champagne that its wines in the 17th century were known as ‘vin de coteaux’, wine of the slopes. Located just a short ride from the winery, our vineyards in the hilly countryside of Avize combine ideal drainage with excellent exposure to sunlight.
Biodynamic & Organic
The chalky and mineral rich soil of the Côte des Blancs region makes for a firm grape with delicate notes. Often described as elegant and complete, these grapes have a reputation of being somewhat time-demanding. We don’t rush the process. After all, quality takes time.
Zero Dosage
Our grapes are too ripe with natural flavors to disguise them with sugars. Zero dosage means the fruit is allowed to reach its potential without the pressures of annual production schedules. It also means fewer calories per glass. Not that we are counting (much).
Picking the Best of the Lot
More than 300 villages are included in the Champagne appellation, but only 17 can call themselves “grand cru village.” Le Mesnil is considered by many to be the top grand cru village in the Côtes de Blancs, if not Champagne. We’re proud to have our winery here.
